Fête des Mères

In France, the tradition calls for a variety of honors for mother. She might receive a gift from her children, or the children might let mom (or mère) relax, and, as all things in France, it usually culminates in a large dinner in mom's honor. These dinners are usually a major family affair.

This is a day when, much like in Australia, mothers do not work and their families cater to their whims.  Mothers here also usually get cards and flowers. Sometimes children write short poems for mom.  Celebrate in Paris if you will with Discover Paris! as they are having excellent offers on independent tours for travellers to Paris for Mothers' Day.  It's a sure winner and loads of fun.

For Australians, how about coming to one of Melbourne's celebrated places to dine and enjoy a high tea at Cristina Re - Where a Girl Goes at Collingwood.  It's known for its beauty in decor, food and stationeries!  The event holds tomorrow the 3rd May till 8th May, perfect to decide throughout the week.  We celebrate moms this week, so stay tuned on a French Mother's day luncheon article up next on our blog!
